Uganda – Nangabo Community Development – Water Harvesting Project

Basic Infrastructure

The St. Paul Community Center, registered as a private school in Wandegeya, Uganda, provides basic education to poor, orphaned, disadvantaged and vulnerable children. Prior to this project, the school faced a severe water shortage. Students were required to collect water from unprotected sources such as ponds, exposing them to serious health risks and negatively affecting their education by diverting time and energy away from learning.

To address this challenge, two large rainwater harvesting tanks were installed on the school premises. These tanks ensure year-round access to clean and safe water, significantly reducing the risk of waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea and typhoid.

Rainwater harvesting offers a cost-effective and sustainable solution, providing the school with a reliable and safe water supply and improving both health conditions and the overall learning environment.
